Does anyone know of a good high fibre cereal in the UK not made from wheat (i heard wheat bran like all-bran inhibits the absorption of calcium!!!!!)
it sounds like it just got oxidized which isn't bad at allyou might want to filter that water just to be safe, but it shouldn't be all that hazardousthe water company has to tell you if the water is unsafe to drink.

I disagree w/ the previous two answersAcid conditions will passivate aluminum, coating it w/ a layer of aluminum oxide forming a very chemical resistant surfaceBasic condition will corrode itItems like beer and soda are acidic (coke is around pH 3) and are regularly shipped in aluminum cansConcentrated acids at high temperatures can be corrosive to aluminum, but it unlikely that your pot was exposed to those conditionsIt is more likely that you have hard water w/ a high carbonate content which discolored (but probably not seriously damaged) the pot.
