Question:

Does general purpose epoxy contain fiberglass?

I m doing a project and I am so confused about this. I need something that has fiberglass but is clear. I bought this fiberglass resin kit and it came out brown which, unfortunately for me, is the normal color it should be. I have some epoxy which comes out somewhat clear but I don t know if it contains fiberglass. When googling it it almost sounds like they are the same thing and I get so confused on it.

Answer:

pull the wrap just tight enough that it doesn't flatten the insulation
Do not flatten the insulation. The trapped air is part of the insulation value.
If you want clear, use potting resin, which is a type of polyester. If you add fibreglass it won't be optically clear anymore, but it will let light through. I have used it with fibreglass cloth to cover solar cells. Go talk to someone at a plastics store to discuss your application.
there are almost as many epoxies as there are brands of cars. Different epoxies are formulated for different purposes. Some are crystal clear, some honey coloured some even darker. If the job is critical contact an epoxy manufacturer/distributor in your area ask them. A clear epoxy used properly with glass cloth will be very nearly transparent - eg over timber the grain is clearly seen
Fiberglass resin is a lazy way of saying polyester resin, as polyester is used in 80 percent of fiberglass applications. The alternate resin ( glue) is epoxy, which can cure anywhere from clear to slightly amber. Fiberglass is a cloth like material , of different weaves and weights. You soak the cloth with brushes or rollers of epoxy or polyester; the cloth gives strength to the resin(s) once they've undergone the chemical reaction known as curing when you mix the resin and catalyst together
