Can plastic break easily underwater?
no. water is not a solvent fro plastic, it won't soften plastic, so breaking plastic is not different in water or not. the only advantage you get if you break plastic under water is that splinters will not hit you.
It shouldn't, no. If its got a good thickness to it, it should be rather durable, even under water.
