if you ever heard of Tom's One Day Without Shoes, it is just what it says. go one day without shoes, every where you go. I wanted to participate in it last year and I thought it would be cool to have the whole school participate. I asked the principal about it and he said no because it was a health and safety issue. i went to school in PA, but I'm sure CA would be no different. of course you could always try and just have shoes in your backpack in case you get in trouble.
Liability issue there. If you were to step on something that injured your foot or feet the school could face a lawsuit if your parents chose to sue.
Most schools have a dress code written in a school handbook that states shoes must be worn. My son attends a charter school in SoCa and they let the kids go barefoot, though. Check your school's handbook.
Proper foot protection means wear shoes. At least flip flops, to keep your feet off the germy floor. If I were your principal,, however, even flip flops would get you sent home to get some proper shoes. I say that because I used to work as a surveillance person in a casino. We were required to see that the employees wore shoes at all times, Preferably shoes with hard toes. Safety issues. Never know when an accident is going to happen.
