Question:

Does the mass of a piece of aluminum depend on the volume of the aluminum?

this is a question for my science lab and i don't know the answer! answer and explain why please!

Answer:

If the aluminum is in a form where it can be compressed or manipulated further to reduce its size (egFoil paper) then no it is not dependent upon the volume.
for saving money the more insulation the betterif you keep the heat in the heating will cost lessremember heat rises, without anything to stop it it will rise out of your house.
in a ceiling u need R-19 min for the attic.the best i have seen is when they install 6 1/2 of batted insulation and then blow over it with 4 of insulation.fills in all voids.an remember to have baffles at the ends where the ceiling and the roof rafters meet, the outside wall top plate, to allow air inlicgencontractor
Blown in insulation tends to settle, over timeThe insulation should be up to the tops of the raftersYou can buy Attic batts at the home improvement stores and lay them crosswise, over the tops of the rafters, if you want to do it yourself and provide the most insulation for the lowest cost.
Stay away from celluloseIt's cheaper but absorbs moisture and settles more than fiberglassIt's recycled paper that has a fire retardant added but fades with timeIts also very dustyI once started that type insulation smoldering from leaving a 100 watt drop light laying in itBlown in will be easier than bats to install and will fill all voids around framingBats are also good but will require more time in the attic to fit were needed.
