Question:

Does the quailty of your guitar majorly effect the lenght of time your strings will last?

My guitar is fairly old and quite cheap (for a beginner) the bridge is pretty poor and the machine heads aren't so great, my friend has an ibanez MTM2 and his strings seem to always outlast minewhat gives?

Answer:

Don't you think it would be better to let the 70's stay back then? I can assure you that there were some awfully ugly clothing designs, some weird furnishings, and other things that are BEST that they are in the junkyard and NO LONGER AROUND!
Vans with plush dashboards, waterbed in the back, heart-shaped windows and a painting on the side of a woman warrior with bronze breastplate raising her sword with a pet tiger.
Platform shoes, hanging entrance beads, shag rugs, bell sleeves, flipped hairstyles, dasheke made shirts, big wide belts around dresses and shirts, mood rings, and big gawky silver jewelry, are some retro things from the seventies.
Huck-A-Poos; Faded Glory; Platforms; Macrame; 45s; stained glass earrings; The Brady Bunch; Incense.I can't remember anymore right now-my head is congested with a cold and sinus infection, and besides, I was too stoned to make such everyday things impactful memoriesJust took it all for granted.
The only way that the guitar affects string life is if you have a burr on the somewhere that's actually cutting into the string How are your strings failing? If they are breaking, look at where they breakIf they're breaking at the bridge, then there's a burr or sharp edge that probably cutting into themThe majority of the time, that's where your problem isOne thing most people don't talk about is the interaction of the strings with your body chemistryPersonally, there's something about my sweat that can kill a set of Ernie Ball's in 2 setsBut, D'Addario XL's will last a couple of shows for meFinally, wash your hands before you play and wipe down the strings afterwards with a clean clothThat goes a long way toward prolonging the life of your strings Greetings from Austin, TX Ken
