First, if you aren't already, make sure to brush your cats a couple of times each week. I would do it more frequently if they're longhaired cats. This will reduce their shedding. I've used all sorts of things as well. I finally broke down and purchased a really good vacuum, and it does the trick. It's a Dyson Animal, and is designed for households with pets. There's a mini attachment tool that has its own beater brush like the vacuum does. I'm constantly amazed by how much it seems to pick up from both the furniture and the carpet. It's not uncommon for the cannister to be filled with cat hair when vacuuming a single larger room, and I vacuum 1-2 times per week. It was costly, but has made a huge difference.
A regular 2 piece Ugly Stik, (with the black foam handle), would be good for young children and adults looking to go Panfishing- thats about it.Hope this helps? TU's to everyone.
