Question:

Door penetration loads?

People Of The Hunting Section! I need some basic help. I sometimes do a bit of backwoods reloading on shotgun shells and I am trying to make a few door breeching rounds. The door is a 1/8quot; mild steel wrapped hollow door with inside hinges. I need a basic load / shot pattern to be able to penetrate the door and get it off the hinges. We have already tried to kick it down and only succeeded in a broken ankle. I was thinking of just turning either a copper or steel slug and just going at it, but I figure it would be worth some different opinions.Thank You!

Answer:

Load your shotgun round to the brim of Iron Dust and filings in the wad. When you shoot this (wear safety glasses) put your barrel about 6 inches where you want your hole. Fire and repeat. It is called a 12 Gauge Disentigrator. I'll post the link if you want to order it. Or you can try Tannerite.
why do you need it off, its probably welded shut like that for a reason i would suggest an oxy torch because that door is too thick even for military door breaching rounds meant for exactly that, if you cant get it off with the oxy torch it wasnt meant to be opened you could also make your own shaped charges to take that door off but that would be illegal ok im really wondering why you need this door off
Have you thought of a cutting torch? Sounds easier, but not much fun. There are special door breaching rounds that you can purchase. I would think several slugs would upset the integrity of the door.

I'm thinking a digging bar and a 16lb sledgehammer. Firing rounds at steel can lead to personal injury.
