easy way to remove old laminate flooring??

it is in my bathroom and it is so stuck to the floor i can't get some of it up. any advise? thanks

Answer:

If what you are talking about is the fibreboad underlayment underneath something like linoleum, vinyl or some laminates ... what I used and surprisingly worked perfectly was something like a liquid detergent, like 401, but the cheapest I could find at home depot. I bought 3 of them and poured them on the floor and one of them soaked in and the stuff just lifted right out. I was hacking and scraping, even sawing before that will little results dry ... but when I soaked it with the detergent liquid and let it soak in, it almost slid off effortlessly.
Start by removing the wall moldings around all walls and the door. The first piece will be the hardest. Start in one corner and take up the board on the long side. One side will start easier than the other side. Try both sides until you find the easier side and then unsnap as you go. The easier side is often opposite the door. If necessary you can cut down the side with a saw, sometimes you need to. Just set the blade the thickness of the floor. Once you start it comes up easy.
Yep, I had to do this a couple of years ago...it was a piece of work, got a scrapper with only an 8 inch blade (in hindsight, I should have gotten a larger one, too for the bigger areas), get a gallon of adhesive remover while you're at the hardware store, too. You will work hard to get it off but, it does take some elbow grease and some well deserved breaks! The adhesive remover softens the dried glue making it a ton easier! And be careful scraping that you don't chip the concrete foundation (if that is what you have underneath) Good Luck!
How To Remove Laminate Flooring
You will probably need a razor floor scraper that may be purchased at Home Depot. One is made by Qep. It's about $30 but well worth it. If the floor is wood, you don't want to use this, use a wedge scraper. If the floor is concrete, use the razor, fill any chips with floor leveling compound. When complete, re-floor.
