I am interested in knowing the chemical and/or physical effect of lime on soil. Is it a good idea to use lime in flower/vegetable soil?
How about some Key Lime Chicken or Shrimp? Key Lime Chicken 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts, flattened 1/2 cup key lime juice 3 garlic cloves, minced 1 inch ginger, minced 1 cup flour 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon white pepper 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying) 1 cup chicken broth 3 teaspoons lightly packed brown sugar Marinate chicken in a glass dish with the key lime juice, fresh garlic and ginger-cover and let stand 2 hours turning once. Remove chicken and reserve marinade. Mix flour, ground ginger, garlic, salt and pepper. Heat oil over med-high. Dredge chicken in flour mixture and brown in oil. Transfer to a 9x13 casserole dish. Pour reserved marinade over chicken along with the broth. Sprinkle brown sugar on top and bake for 30 minutes in a 375° oven. Do not let broth totally evaporate. Remove to a serving platter and pour remaining broth over chicken. ______________________________________... Key Lime Shrimp 4 key limes or 2 limes 4 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon olive oil 4 cloves chopped garlic 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 20 large shrimp, in shells hot pepper sauce Cut 4 thin slices of lime, and grate a tsp of zest, then squeeze to get 2 tbsp juice. In skillet heat butter oil. Add garlic, lime zest and juice, worcestershire, cook until bubbling, add shrimp and cook 2 minutes, turn over, add hot sauce and cook 2 minutes longer. Serve with sauce, lime slices and french bread, eat with your fingers and lots of napkins.
Limonada Brasileira For each person: 1/2 lime (including the rind) 2-3 Tbs sweetened condensed milk 6 oz cold water water Blend all ingredients together; strain. serve over ice.
