I need a good battery grip for my nikon D90. I've heard the Zeikos is good, but the Nikon grip is pointless for the price because it does nothing for the camera other than extend battery life. Yes you get the reliability of the the brand name, but I don't wanna spend that much. Thanks for the advice prior to your answer.
I bought an off-brand unit for my D90 from Amazon. It is surprisingly built well and works great. I like the added feature of a shutter release on it for use in vertical shooting. It does add weight and size, but there are usually no worries about battery life! (my brand name is MEIKE) was approx. $60 ?

Buying a cheap junk aftermarket grip 1) is an insult to your camera and 2) could ruin your camera. Stop being cheap and by the MD-D80. Grips do NOT extend battery life. If you have two batteries, then you have two batteries.
