Question:

What happens if you use thicker yarn than a pattern calls for?

The sweater I want to knit calls for sport weight, but I have a massive stockpile of DK weight that I want to useI don't think it's much thicker, right? What will happen if I use it? Also should I use bigger needles?

Answer:

Wouldn't silver paint be an easier, and more economic choice?
Well depends on your preference? Aluminum guilding is of course cheaperBut, it lacks brillianceIt does not have the polished quality of silver.
Your double knitting yarn will tell you on the label the tension achieved with that yarnCompare it to the tension given for your patternIf it is just 1 or 2 stitches different you may be able to get the same tension by changing the needle sizeA bigger difference than that would make the fabric too loose or dense to be attractiveDepending on what you are making it may not matter if the item does not come out exactly the same size.
