hi all i found this above method of cleaning silver ornament on net, i wanna clean my pearl gemstone ring which is of silver by this method,i just wanna know that will this method can have some ill effect on pearl.thank you 1- Fill the jar or bowl about half full with hot water 2-Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the jar or a couple of tablespoons of salt to the bowl and mix to dissolve 3-Add a few strips of aluminum foil to the jar or cover the bottom of the bowl with a sheet of aluminum foil 4-Now simply drop your silver jewelry in the water 5-You can shake it around in the jar or swish it around in the bowlThe aluminum with the salt acts as a magnet, pulling the tarnish off of the silver 6-Allow the jewelry to set in the saltwater/aluminum foil mixture for a few minutes 7-Remove and rinse under running water 8-Repeat as needed until the tarnish is removed 9-Dry with a soft towel.

Answer:

Don't use this method, ultrasonic jewelry cleaners, or jewelry cleaners not made for pearls to clean your pearl jewelryHot water could damage the pearl itself, as well as loosen any glue holding it in the settingGet a polishing cloth made for silver and use it on the silver part of your ring onlyThen clean the ring and pearl in warm, soapy waterRinse, dry and you're good to go with a beautiful, clean ringAs an aside, don't use toothpaste or baking soda to clean your jewelry, eitherEither is abrasive enough to scratch gold and silver.
