The diablo tunner says you can cut off your EGR valve, only if your going to take it off. What effect will this have on the car?
it may pop back through the intake some on it if you do this, what kind of car is this anyway that would help a lot,we cant answer these questions without knowing this, there's always a negative affect when you remove an egr valve on any car,in short it may run worse than better, good luck with it.
The EGR valve or Exhaust gas Recirculation valve is located on the exhaust equipment. those often get hung up with rust and different exhaust deposits. The motor vehicle may be under production facility guarantee being basically 3 years old. i might verify with a broker to work out if the motor vehicle and/or section remains under guarantee. A defective EGR valve will reason the workstation to make the incorrect settings to the gas and air blend inflicting the engine to run too rich or too lean. Its no longer too unfavourable interior the quick term, yet your gas mielage will go through, and you will be able to fail a state inspection so get it repaired before then.
The EGR valve is basically just an emission control device. On a non-computer controlled vehicle, removing it would increase your gas mileage a little but it wouldn't improve your engine performance that much unless you made other changes such as a better exhaust system. In a computer controlled car, removing the EGR can cause all kinds of problems unless you can trick the computer into thinking the EGR is still there which is NOT easy!!!
OK you guys, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Valves are bad. They are designed to open at cruising speed and allow exhaust back into the intake manifold. Unfortunately exhaust contains acids and corrosives not to mention heat and flame which are NOT good for the engine. If the EGR valve is not yet blown you can simply plug the vacuum source to it and it will be disabled. if it is blown and is causing an air leak (rough idle poor power) then you must remove it and block both ports, the one to the intake and the one to the exhaust. Yes in some cases there is an EVPS (Exhaust Valve Position Sensor) on top of the EGR valve which gives the emission control computer information to accurately control fuel mixture. It might work if you simply unpug the sensor but that will certtainly cause a check engine light to come on. make sure youhide the modifications from the emission testers or they will fine you , I just use a bb to plug the line...they cant see it
You can only take the EGR valve off the car IF you cover the intake and exhaust ports properly. The effects will be: Excessive NOx production. Increased tendency for detonation. A much shorter engine life expectancy. I just don't understand why play with this unless you run unlimited fuel (and don't mind rebuilding your engine after every race)? EGR valves are designed not to hamper with performance, only to reduce emissions of NOx and protect (in a way) your engine.
