metals are on the left side of the periodic table and the nonmetals are on the right side look at this, and it'll explain;
The far left two columns are metals. The farthest top right are non-metals. Just below the non-metals in a stair-case are metalloids which are partially metal and non-metal. Then in the big chunk in the middle are transition metals.
Metals make up the majority of elements on the periodic table and they start on the left and go toward the nonmetals on the upper left of the periodic table. Look at the link and you will see a legend that shows you where each type of element is located. Good luck.
