If they make the car break noise regulations then they are illegal. I have no idea what the inspectors will say. These systems do not really add any power to a stock car. You need other modifications and reprogramming to see any benefit, and it's going to be small and at the top end where it's really not going to matter.
A 2007 GT depends on how much money you want to spend, and what type of sound you want. a deep throaty sound will come from the pypes mid muffler cat back system or mid mufler super system which adds resonators instead of a muffler delete over axle pipe. On the 2007 GT you can do an axle back system in under 30 minutes with basic hand tools so you can install it yourself, which is just replacing the factory mufflers with alternatives or a muffler delete kit, for a full cat back system, you'll need a good jack and jack stands but about an hour and a half can easily do it On a stock GT with the factory H pipe, go with a stinger style setup like magnaflow, or borla for a better sound, or if you are electing to use a tuner change to an x-pipe and add the granatelli motorsports 2.5 cat back system, or if your state allows for a non-catted exhaust, using a tuner with the granatelli motorsports ES 0530 system is your best option for the money it mounts to the factory manifold, and gives you a true 3 inch exhaust without cats ( tune required for this) with intergrated X-pipe and polished mufflers, for 580 bucks at jegs dot com. which is the same price range as most cat back systems or axle back systems. and it sounds mean and aggressive
