Question:

Expanding three brackets?

(x+1)^2 (2x-7)How would you expand these three brackets?I've tried working it out and this is what I got:x^2+2x+1 (2x-7)and I don't know what to do after that. Can somebody please explain? Thanks a lot.

Answer:

Continue expanding like you normally do (x^2+2x+1)(2x-7) 2x^3 -7x^2 + 4x^2 - 14x +2x - 7 2x^3 - 3x^2 - 12x - 7
2x^3 - 3x^2 - 12x - 7
Your halfway there. You already expanded out the (x+1)^2. To finish expanding you need to multiply everything in the last bracket my what you already expanded. Break up the expansion into parts 2x - 7 (X^2+2x+1)(2x) - (x^2+2x+1)(7) 2x^3+4x^2 +2x -7x^2-14x-7 Then just combine like terms Answer: 2x^3-3x^2-12x-7
