Mate after reading this, lock is the one and only position for you, the role of a good lock is to make tackles all day and keep that middle part of the field tight and secure, take the odd hit up, give a few tip ons, and dont miss tackles, and makes lots and you will do awesome, good luck

Scrape off what you can. Use acetone or lacquer thinner to remove the remainder. Allow to stand for a couple of days. Use an oil based paint (or varnish) and paint over the area to help seal it off.
