Question:

For Christians, atheists please stay home. Jesus in the garden praying.?

correction, church 2X month to 1 and more to accompany my mom- spend time together- and hear interesting sermons.

Answer:

He refered to our Father in second person. He said He was sent by our father to do His will. Jesus did not say pray to me , He said I would begin, Father in heaven ,hallowed,...... Maybe your adherance to your current understandimg needs a little work. Is He the son on earth, the Father in Heaven and the ghost in the future? Locking into a particular understanding and feeling like you've got it figured out , can block you from recieving the truth when it comes. Feeling like we have the ability to percieve and understand God Is a little arrogant. Don't get swept away by your study group or bible college or whoever entices you to give an answer. It's OK to admit that His thoughts are so far above ours and that the truth of all reality will not be presented to us until He shows it to us on the other side
There is the reasonable explanation that Jesus did not think of himself as God. But I realize that idea is dismissed by those who believe Jesus is God. Thus, why doubt is so feared by believers, as it makes them feel uneasy.
LOL......I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing knowing ahead all the twist and turns that many will use to try to explain to you what doesn't have an explanation. You're absolutely right, it doesn't make sense to even to imagine Jesus praying to himself. Then ask yourself, when Jesus died at the cross, if He was dead, *who* resurrected him, same problem... ;-))
Because His Father sent him to earth to die for the sins of all mankind. His Father is a separate being than Jesus. Both are Gods. The atonement represents God loving the world so much that he sacrificed his only begotten son. So Jesus is talking to his Father, telling him wow...Are you sure you want me to do this? In John 14:28, Jesus again reiterates the separateness: You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
All of Jesus is part of God, but not all of God is Jesus. It's like, all of your hand is part of your body, but not all of your body is your hand. Jesus still had to pray to communicate with the other part of God, the Father. It was all part of Him being human.
