Question:

Fuel Additives?

Mixed Techron Concentrate Plus when I filled up the tank of my vehicle the other day. Yesterday I noticed strange sound maybe from the engine when I accelerate from stops, So I went to the freeway..speed at 75mph, the unusual sound was gone but came to hear it back when I exit the freeway and driving on backroads maybe at 35mph, when I accelerate to pass. I didn't notice loss of power, just the scratchy sound from the engine. My vehicle is maintained like the regular scheduledservice, I didn't noticed the sound before until I use that Techron additive for the pupose of atleast cleaning the fuel system. Is that sound normal when using fuel additives or fuel system cleaner? Will that sound be gone when the tank with such mixture be consumed?

Answer:

never use additives in your vehicles. (period)
it wasnt the techron that did it. i used it lots of times in my car and its fine.
the chicken crows And the sun rises. did the crow cause the sun to rise? The fuel additive has nothing to do with your problem. You might have some problem for sure. But the fuel additive has nothing to do with it. It is recommended (by everybody) that you run fuel injector cleaners few times a year (especially right before emission testing). They really work. Good Luck...
The car should not sound any different with the additive. Maybe you used to much, read the instructions on the bottle.I like to use stp fuel injector cleaner, it works good! The noise could be the valves.
Normally, additive would not cause the engine noise. I think the noise has been there all the time except that after you add the additive in the gas, you pay extra attention to the engine.
