Question:

Full Exhaust system or Muffler?

Looking to Mod a Nissan Sentra :). Should I do the whole performance exhaust system or just do the muffler swap and exhaust tip? Just dont want it to be expensive.BQ: Will the cops make a big deal of this?

Answer:

If you're looking for performance or could do heavy mods down the road, turbochargers and such, a cat-back or full exhaust would be better. If you're just looking for a sound/looks boost, then get an axle-back setup. You won't see a big performance difference either way, but getting a full exhaust allows much more airflow which helps with engine efficiency and overall performance. Just make sure that the muffler you choose is good quality or it'll sound like a fart can. The cops will only make a big deal if the exhaust doesn't pass emission tests, or it's too loud. Unless you live in CA, you probably won't have much trouble with cops.
That is definitely a job for a plumber.
I put a Magnaflow catback exhaust system on my Sentra about 4 years ago. It actually has a bit of a deep tone to it, but it's still pretty loud. I have noticed some performance gain, but not a lot. The system was $350, which is pretty expensive, for me at least. As for the BQ: I live in California and have never been pulled over for my exhaust. So, you should have no issue.
