Question:

Future of fuel cells?

I am doing a research paper on Renewable energy and my topic is fuel cells and its about how they gonna be used in future ?????

Answer:

hydrogen fuel cells will have to be used to get the majority of our transportation energy from because we need to get away from carbon based fuels altogether. Even recycling carbon to make it neutral is not enough. There are hurdles to overcome but John W is a little misguided or not well enough informed. Cars and trucks that run on hydrogen fuel cells have tanks that go from 5000 to 10000 bar and honda has made great strides in producing a sedan that gets 300 miles to the fill up. Even the cost of producing hydrogen is cost effective at this point but the cost of producing the vehicle is still beyond most peoples means. But as with anything else, as demand rises, production increases and costs of production are lowered.
1. On space stations etc. 2. In remote locations instead of diesel generators. 3. Maybe in cars but this looks very unlikely.
