Question:

German Shepherd + pink insulation ?

3 days ago I think my German Shepherd ate some of the pink insulation by our water heaterThere was a big hole and not enough pieces to fill it back upHe was acting fine so we decided just to watch him to see if everything was okWell, today I went outside with him to go potty and he has the shits. Is it to late? Will he die? Or is he just working it out of his system?

Answer:

I got my first cat, she was an abandoned very young kitten, a long time agoThere was a popular alternative health cat magazine back then called Tiger Tribe that had articles on homemade diets etcSome of that was fairly unsophisticated (like added a certain proportion of grain or vegetable matter to cats meals) based on what we know now but it did get me interested in cat nutrition So that first cat of my own, though she did eat commercial canned Fancy Feast, she also ate raw meat based meals regularlyVery little dry food at all Those raw meals were laborious to prepareIt had not dawned on either the author's or the various recipes nor I that cats could eat raw bones so fussing with the Calcium sources was a pain and the proportions of Calcium, magnesium, and PhosphorusAdded Taurine, and a bunch of other supplementsThen a certain amount of cooked oatmeal (!) and minced veggies(!) Now my current cats' raw food is the standard 80/10/10 and balanced over days not every single dayMuch simpler! There is a larger variety of good quality canned foods available too though some that used to be good have gone downhill So I don't think I have made too much of a change except I have much better canned options and the raw feeding is much easier.
Get your dog to the vet NOW! Pink insulation doesn't desolve in the body, it swells and starts causing major internal issuesGET GOING! At this stage, your dog may have a day or 2 at most.
Absolutely! I was one of those suckers that believed in the commercials for PURINA cat food- it shows happy Cat's, real meat and healthy thingsBut they didn't reflect the ingredients label- you know, the one I never bothered to look atAbout a year ago, I though hmmI wonder if my cats would like wet food, so I went to PETco and bought a can of PETco brand canned cat foodThey loved it! Then I googled healthy canned cat food it brought me to a ton of yahoo answers questionsI am very careful with information I use from here- I viewed dozens and every post said something about no by products and wellness or blue buffaloI googled and read from then and thereI looked up things you want and don't want to see on the ingredients labelThen I discovered the PURINA cat chow I'd been feeding was a bag of corn pretty much Now, I get quality wet food because wellness is very generous with their monthly coupons ($1 off 1 can) especially when the cans go on sale for $1But dry food is different if you want a quality brandI'm only 15 and have no jobI didn't want them to live off of cornI needed changeSo now I earn money doing odd jobs and buy them PURINA one dry foodNot the best, not the worstYes, it still has some yucky ingredients, but they aren't the first ingredients, which I really likeSo at least the first ingredient is meat! :D
