Question:

Grade/thickness of Stainless Steel tubing for custom-made radiator coolant return pipe?

My vehicle [Subaru-powered Vanagon] needs a custom-made radiator coolant return pipeThis pipe needs to be about 14quot; long, with a 90 degree elbow at each end. What grade and thickness of stainless steel tubing sould I use for this? Would a muffler shop be able to do the bending for me? Thanks!

Answer:

Articles I've read stated it was to prevent the sound from leaking out the back of the enclosure.
it 'tricks' the box into thinking it's bigger i believebut you sacrifice some outputi wouldnt do it to any of my boxes.
This Site Might Help YouRE: why do people put insulation inside their subwoofer boxes? what benefits does it have? and what exactly does it do? i just built a sub box and someone suggested putting the insulation inside the box.
I believe you're talking about polyfil, the cotton-looking stuffThis substance, essentially, slows down the sound waves as they pass through it, making the subwoofer think it is in a larger box than it really is, because the sound waves take longer to move aroundThe benefits of this is, obviously, if you build a box that is too small and you don't want to make a new one, put some of this in.
You could use aluminum tubing if you wanted toIt doesn't have to be very thick.060 thick tubing should be more than thick enoughIf you can, find a fabrication shop to bend the tubingMost muffler shops have benders that crimp the tubing as it's bentA good fab shop will have a mandrel bender that doesn't hurt the tubing at all.
