Question:

Guinea Pig cage flooring options?

What are other options to use as flooring instead of bedding

Answer:

It really depends on the cage you have. I wouldn't recommend newspaper because of the dyes. I personally use fleece but I have a C&C cage so it is much easier. Also if you are using wood bedding only use aspen, the others can give guinea pigs URI's!
If you want to use wood, do not use pine wood, they will chew it to bits, you need to use treated wood. but you do need to provide bedding for them anyway. guinea pigs need somewhere they can hide.
You could use either paper towls or newpaper. Both of those you could cut up and make it kind of like bedding. Or you could just lay them in there. Either way they both work. Hope this helps.
Many people use fleece and towels. They lay the towels down first, then cover it with fleece. The towels absorbed the urine and the fleece keeps them from chewing the towels and provides a more continuous surface (no seams). You do need to be changed out every few days and washed, so you do want enough to do the cage twice.
The video is self explanatory. What yo can do is after your guinea pigs are totally potty trained to use the potty cloth you cut a piece of cloth the size to the litter box you want to use in their cage. once they are completely used to using it you cut the size of the cloth down and so on until they are simply using the litter box. Or of course you can simply just use a potty cloth and change it a couple times a day. What I like about that is when they are out of the cage on floor time they will still want to go on a potty cloth and not the floor, just make sure they know where it is, and for some silly reason you have to have one in each room.
