Question:

Has anyone had preformed on their horse..?

A Scintography test? What part of the horse did you do or if it was total body and what results showed?I am going to ultrasound my mules soft tissues myself (I'm a sonographer) just waiting for the vets new ultrasound machine to arrive.. but if this shows nothing, the next step is the Scintography.. I know what this test is.. thats not my question, just wondering who has had one preformed and for what reasons...They would just do spinal column on him.

Answer:

Are they doing it to look at the hard tissue or soft. I haven't done one on my horses but at some of the clinics I have worked at we would do 2, sometimes 3 a day. We would do a soft tissue scan of the legs within 15 minutes after the injection, and then a hard tissue bone scan anywhere from 1-3 hours after that depending on the size of the horse. I think they are a great diagnostic tool. Expensive, but they can certainly narrow down a search quick. The only problem is that they are only as good as the people doing them, and the vet reading them. I have done them for a wide range of things. To be honest, a full body scan is great if you have no idea what is causing the problem. Some horses are so messed up that it is hard to find every little issue, some are so stoic it is hard to see a problem. I have seen a lot of neck/spine issues discovered/solved by doing a scintography test. Hope it shows something.
