ive been there once at night and ive heard there is a way in? is the opening at the hill or down from the water tank? this is near vantage point.
No, never been to those. You can easily get to the Nike missile sites in San Pedro. It used to be part of the White Point Nike Missile Base. The launch pads are now part of a nature preserve. Built into the hill above the launch pad are a couple of concrete gun batteries from WW II. That entire side of San Pedro is filled with old bunkers and military housing dating from World War I to the 1970's. Check out little known Fort MacArthur where you can sit on top of a huge concrete bunker that used to house a gun battery and look at the ocean and Catalina Island without anyone bothering you. It's next to the Korean Friendship Bell to give you a point of reference. There are also tunnels that connected the different guns. Those are blocked and can't be explored. Plus, you'll get arrested since they're located under the Port of Los Angeles Traffic Control Tower. While in San Pedro explore the Sunken City and hike to the shipwreck along the coast below the bluffs. You need proper hiking boots to see the shipwreck.
