Question:

Have twinMerc 5.7 inboards. One runs hot and hard to start after running a while, oil pressure also drops?

new risers, manifolds installed 1 yr. runs smooth, sounds good, but temp is 35 deg hotter than other engineoil pressure drops when hot. FWC engines, Mercruiser 260HP (350cu in.) Heat exchanger issues? Anyone have any idea's?

Answer:

Had that problem before> You need to check out all of the system> Is belt tight>Fluid full> problem I had was if tank on rear of engine air remained in engine>needed over flow tank higher than engine>cap for tank 7lbs>If heat exchangers not cooling replace it as it has scale inside the antifreeze side no way to clean>Feel the hoses on the tank 1 from engine hot return to engine cool> if not exchanger not working>Is the pump working take hose off start engine good water flow>
My first stop would be the impellars. If you have replaced them recently and there was any vanes missing then you need to check through your whole cooling system on the rax water side and make sure there is no chunks left anywhere. Happens more often than not.
