Question:

Heavy lifting 21 weeks pregnant please help?

Today I lifted three car batteries seperately. They are around 40 lbs. I know I shouldn‘t have lifted them and now I‘m very worried. I‘m so scared that it will cause placental abruption. Woul I know if I had it whether it was mild or severe? I haven‘t noticed tenderness, bleeding, or any pain. But it still worries me. Is 40lbs that risky? Do you think it would cause miscarriage? Please help.

Answer:

Cloth diapers are great.but if you plan on putting your child in daycare you might want to call around to a few (or if you know who you will be using call them) and find out if they are willing to use cloth as well. I wanted to use cloth but the daycare I put my son in required disposable, so it wasn't worth the money for me because I was still having to purchase diapers for daycare (daycares are required to change a childs diaper every two hours or more if they are dirty between changes).
I'm a culinary student at LE Cordon Bleu, and I lifted and carried my 30lb bag of tools up and down 3-4 flights of stairs every weekday until I was about 30 weeks. You should be fine. If you start to feel tired or lightheaded, you should take a rest. Rule of thumb, if you don't feel well, don't push yourself.
Okay I'm a new mom and i have just a little experience with cloth diapers, i tried them on my son and he immediately broke out from the pee siting in the cloth. Even though cloth diapers are a whole lot cheaper because you can re-use them i wouldn't recommend that because you run the risk of your baby crying from a burning diaper rash on his/her tush. I find them excellent burp cloths. But if you are going to use them buy rubber underpants also because they keep the baby's clothing from getting messed up. And plenty of Balmex for the bootie.

You are right, lifting can cause placental eruption but most likely with 40 pounds you are pretty safe. However, I wouldn't risk it in the future with you at 21 weeks. And you would have symptoms of pain, tenderness, and bleeding if you did so that's a great sign. You need to avoid anything that could send you in to labor and that includes lifting heavy things. I wish you and your baby well.
40 lbs should be fine. If lifting is out of the ordinary for you, next time, don't do it. At 21 weeks, lifting wouldn't be that risky for miscarriage, it would give you a hell of a back ache or leg cramps, but miscarriage shouldn't be a worry.
