I would try using a cigarette lighter to melt the fabric back it will also cause a small lump on the end to tie it together again we have a shag and this is how I do ours caution CAUTION do not touch the melted part until it cools down if it is still melted it will stick to your skin and belive me it does burn and keep burning .
