Hi all, I have an ACER 2700 Series Laptop which has started to have power problems, as below: - When i connect the AC power connector to the wall, no power seems to be getting to the laptop. - If if fiddle with the connection to the laptop for ages, it sometimes does start charging the battery again, meaning power is getting to the laptop. - If i remove the battery and simply try to connect the laptop to the power point, absolutely no power gets to the laptop, no matter how much i fiddle with the connection. - I took the laptop to a repair shop where they told me that it was likely the connection part of the laptop where i connect the power adaptor to was cracked. I have just received it back and it did work for one day, but the problem then started again. So guess my questions are really:A) Should i be able to use my laptop on AC power with the battery completely removed?B) What could have caused the power supply to stop working(i dont think its the power adapter)? Thanks!
sounds like the DC Jack needs to be re-soldered - take it back to the lame repair shop and tell them they didnt fix it. This is a normal repair
Yes, you should be able to run the computer on the power supply alone. It is odd for the power supply to stop working, but it is possible that the connectors are not making good contact or your computer may have a bad connector. It is also possible that you had a voltage spike or brown out that killed your power supply.
