Question:

Help on copper pipe drain and fernco adapter?

My wife dropped a little rag down our shower drain and I was wondering if I can cut the copper pipe, get the rag out and then attached the copper pipe back together with a fernco adapter. I have seen this adapter be used from copper to PVC, but not for sure if it will work from copper to copper. I don‘t want to mess with the P trap because it is tiny and soldered together. Thanks

Answer:

if the drain is not vi sable you can cut it and fix it with a piece of rubber hose and claps there is no perisher on drains
Yes a ferco will work but there are tools to go down into the pipe and pull the rag out with out cutting the pipe.I would try that first before cutting
