Question:

Help with 460 EFI HP and MPG?

I have 1994 F250 with a 460 fuel injected enginenow when it comes to trucks I know my fair share but not enoughI'm saving up for a rebuild on it and I want to put some power adders on that won't completely kill my MPGsBut I'm not sure what to doI know I'm going to put a camshaft in, but what else should I on a milder budget? also I'm going to headers and I was going to run them alone with no exhaust, but a friend of mine said I needed and exhaust for back-pressure or else I will be negatively effecting the engine and losing HP and MPGsTrue?any help is much appreciatedthanks

Answer:

Don't do it! Polystyrene, aka Styrofoam, is very flammable and easily ignitedEven if the polystyrene doesn't catch fire, it won't support the SculpeyIt will start to melt at 212° FSince the recommended baking temp for Super Sculpey is 275° F, it will be too soft to make for an effective armatureThe Sculpey will likely crack and you will lose all your hard workSculpey Ultralight makes a strong armature for Super SculpeyThough it may be expensive for a life sized bustAnother option would be to make a wire and plaster bandage armature that you can apply the Sculpey toyoutu.be/UGaLHyaKLew Good Luck!
Comp Crane are two of several reputable cam companies that offer replacement camshafts w/ both improved performance fuel economy over stock choicesThis is going to be your best dollar/ results area, will work well w/ stock exhaust/ intake systemsPerformance economy DO have something in common that is efficiancyBoth aim to get the most from each drop of fuelEducated cam selection should allow you to make reasonable gains in both areasAnd please keep a full exhaust system!
