When is the best time to get a hi chair and train a 11 mo use it ?Is he ready for chunks of tomatoes/soft finger foods ?
A baby can use a high chair as soon as he can sit on his own without being all slumped over. An 11 month old should be eating a lot of different table foods by now everyday. Soft foods are usually introduced months before now.
I never used a high chair. I bought a $15.00 booster seat and strapped it in to my kitchen table. Less space taken up and a lot less money... What have you been feeding him in until this point? He is 11 months old and you are not giving him finger foods yet?? Give that baby some food! =) **EDIT** Even though I have a thumbs down... (?) at 11 months a baby can eat just about anything you do. Just watch out for things like peanut butter, strawberries, shellfish and nuts in general as they are known to cause allergic reactions.
if he is sitting up then he can use a high chair and finger food should b fine both my girls were eating normal food buy 6-10 mths
my daughter is 6.5 months and i started the hight chair at 4 months. Just today she sat in it and had her first gerber cookie to suck on! My older daughter is 3, and i remember starting the chair at the same time, ( i never leave the room until they are better and of course strapped) but i know she started finger foods maybe 8 months. Just supervise
I would skip the highchair and go to a booster you can use at the table. Many come with their own tray so you don't have to trash the table. They are less expensive, take up less space, are height adjustable and can be used for a longer period of time. I recommend covering your chair with a cheap vinyl table cloth that way you don't need to worry about spilled food and you can wash it when it gets really bad. A hose and clothesline work great for this.
