Answer:

I answered the other two questions you have already asked. yes there maybe joints. That will depend on the type of pipe. not all pipe comes in long rolls cts pipe comes in rolls up to 1000 feet long this the normal pipe used now for water service.now for the questions what state do you live in? and will it freeze? would really like to help but need all the info you can give.
you could try fitting some less sensitive smoke detectors..?
the smoke detectors pick up dust after a period of time, this gives them a hair trigger so they alarm at the sliightest smoke. clean them up by blowing on them with a hairdryer ( on cold setting) and brushing with a soft small brush.if this does'nt help they need replacing.
in your question There are smoke detectors in every room off the house, including the bedrooms, once one detector goes off, its sets them all off setting off a chain reaction of all of them to go off. it sounds like you have a set of detectors that are hard wired in your house and not the stick-on portable kind. these are manufactured and installed by a contractor. there should be a sticker on them for service, they need tobe checked and adjusted by the proper service tech.
There are some places in a kitchen that are just not favorable locations for a smoke detector. Like small alcove along the wall at a door header …and obviously …..above the oven. Of course logic dictates: that if that is where the smoke pockets…… that is the best place for a detector; which is true ………..but…….. If you have ever been in a house at the inception of a fire ….trust me anyplace in the kitchen will do the trick …just keep it more centered in ceiling {away from the stove} I know it is not easy to move the hard wired detectors…… and I would, before you move it, swap it with another one to see if the results are the same in the kitchen or …..possibly that the one in is just bad
