Question:

high chairs?

when did you put your baby in his/her high chair for the first time? my 5 month old tries to wiggle out of his carrier when i feed him. he can hold his head up and can sit up when supported. he weighs 18 pounds and is over 27 inches long. when do i try to put him in? thank you!!

Answer:

we bought our son his high-chair for his 4 month birthday (5 days ago) we brought the Fisher Price Rainforest chair home and assembled it right away and put it him in it within a couple of hours! Our son weighs 18 pounds and sits up well (when in his chair) he plays with the built on toy on the tray and we have fed him a couple of times in it already. Our little guy is not really very squirmy... he likes to eat :) he settles down for that EVERY time :) CONGRATS on your baby!
my daughter has been in her high chair since she was three months old. Ours is a Chicco that reclines and has a five point harness so she stays put! She loves watching me cook dinner while she is hanging out in her chair. I would start him right away!
I definitely used a high chair at that age. They make a foam insert (with terry cloth cover) to help support the little ones.
I believe that as soon as a baby can sit up that he or she is ready for the high chair. I think that there are also cushions you can put in the chair to help baby sit up.
As soon as he can sit up supported, he can be fed in a high chair. Just try it. He'll be fine.
