Question:

Holes in exhaust system and emissions test?

I currently have 2 holes in my exhaust system (1997 Ford Taurus with about 73,000 miles on it) and not the $750.00 it would cost to get them repaired (unemployed and desperately looking for work with little luck). I live in Illinois where we have to take emissions tests for our cars every few years. I‘m wondering, with these holes in the system am I gonna fail the test? Hoping for knowledgeable answers, thanks!

Answer:

If its before the catalytic converter then yes you will fail the test.
there could be information on the thank you to repair the exhaust without changing the full device counting on the place the hollow is ,how vast that's and what subject something of the device is in welding it or utilising an epoxy this is designed for exhaust temperatures are available in or perhaps if if that's on a in the present day piece of pipe you may cut back out the section the place the holes are and replace it with what's referred to as an adapter if it incredibly is the muffler maximum in all hazard it is going to must be replaced and a soup can isn't a criminal thank you to repair an exhaust device emission attempt examine for O2 interior the device to make certain there at the instant are not any leaks why this is generally what oyu failed on remember the reason the exhaust device is there and ran how that's ,is to direct the exhaust gasses removed from the passenger compartment carbon monoxide is an odorless tasteless invisible killer which will positioned your lights fixtures out completely
id bet that the test would come back with results that say something like dilution, due to the air that is mixing with the exhaust. living in CA, we see that occasional.
Yeah. Some Have a great flight!
