Question:

home (built 1952) Plywood or no plywood?

home had roof leaks, one day the ceiling drywall fell in the living room along with a lot of chipped up insulation Eck! When we fix the drywall would it be prudent to go into the roof crawlspace and put down plywood? I never heard of blowing insulation into an attic that only has the drywall to hold the insulation up.

Answer:

Yes it is possible to use aluminum foil I used it the previous round I baked a cake it did not turn out too bad but the better way is to coat the pan with butter or use a non stick pan.
The best thing to use is Pam or another non-stick sprayYou may keep the cake from sticking to the pan with the foil but then the cake could stick to the foil instead.
No need, the cake would stick to the foilGrease the pan with butter and dust with flour Chetak
Blown insulation directly over the ceiling sheet rock is commonNot good quality work, but cheap and easy for the building contractorReplace the sheet rock in the ceiling, this time use enough screws to hold it in place and it probably wouldn't hurt to place a few cross pieces between the ceiling joist so you have additional support to screw the ceiling sheet rock toThen put Batts down over the repaired areaBatts don't settle like blown in insulation and provide better insulationAnd it isn't messy like blown in insualtionYou open the package of batts, drag them into the attic and lay them over the ceiling joist.
