Question:

Home was broken intoHELP?

So yesterday someone(s) broke into our house through the front door an went an stole a bunch of jewlery an gold no big electronics or even laptops just my moms jewelry mainly. We live in a good community and it a quite cul de sac no one was home and no one saw these guys do it and I doubt the finger print examiners or w/e will find any cause they probably wore gloves. Point to all this we can make our home safe an change some things but I am paranoid as hell now where they watching us for a long time? was this a random act or well planned? do I know these people?? My mind is totally fried what are the chances the cops will get these guys?? Oh an also apparently a cop cruiser saw a group of suspicious teenagers with bags full of stuff or something an took all there info but couldn't arrest them?? I dunno the cop kinda told me this but I was at work when this happened so they told my parents most of it..

Answer:

Of course. Although WHY they would want to is an open question. As for the case you cite, it is pretty clear that the person that got fired was unable to perform the functions of the job for which he was hired because of a rejection of the fundamental tenets of the research study. This does not mean he cannot work as a biologist, or even obtain a different research position or gain his own funding. I used to work with an expanding earther, and he was a pretty good geologist even though he didn't accept plate tectonics. Not accepting the basic tenets does limit your opportunities, no question. You probably wouldn't hire an atheist to be pastor of a church, and I do not see how that would be construed as discrimination based on religion, nor would it prevent the person in question from working in religious studies. It just limits the options available.
