Question:

honda codes PO700 and PO740?? transmission?

i went to auto zone today to check why my check engine lights are on, (the check engine light has been on the car for about 6k miles now) they said it was something faulty with the transmission. What do i do? I dont wanna get ripped off at a transmission shop and I cant afford a whole new transmission. My car has been running perfectly, what do you guys recommend?

Answer:

well first off p0700 is just a general code that indicates that you have a transmission related DTC. If the only other code you have is P0740 (which is for a faulty lock up system in the transmission) you might be able to fix it for less money. First what you can do is replace the lockup control solenoid valve assembly (you most likely have to get this part from a dealer!) It is probably going to be cheaper than a whole tranny, but it might not correct the problem and if after replacing that part and the code p0740 returns then it means there is an internal failure in the transmission you are going to need to replace the tranny.
Hello I have an acura t.l and the po740 came on , does that mean I have to replace the tranny?
