Question:

Hooking an XBox 360 to LCD computer monitor?

I have an LCD monitor I use for my computerand was wondering if it would be possible to hook up an xbox 360 to it. The monitor's input is an Analog RGB and came with a VGA cable that I have connected to my computer's video card. Is there some kind of box I could get that would allow me to select between computer input and xbox input? And would about sound? Would I have to buy a seperate selector to switch between computer input and xbox input?

Answer:

You can go to Walmart and buy an LCD Monitor/tv, for around $250-$300, and none of this would be a concern, and I susspect that anything you need in order to hook the xbox up, will cost nearly that.
There is a VGA cable available for your Xbox that's designed for just that purpose.
I have that setup now. The connection cost me $20 in order to hook it up to the monitor. To get sound, I happened to have an old mixer lying around that I used. But it's expensive for u to go out and buy a mixer. If you have power speakers, the connections are cheap to get sound for your xbox 360. Go to best buy or circuit city and tell them u want to hook it up to a monitor and they will show u the connection u can buy. Just make sure ur talking to someone w/ sense. Don't let them tell u it HAS to be hooked up to a TV in order to work.
yes you can the VGA lead is around $50, get it in any game shop. As for switch boxes for VGA they are quite expensive, not worth it. Sound will be easy to split to your current sound system about $15 worth of leads and adapters, but don't have the volume for PC and 360 up at the same time. Get a new monitor with DVI and VGA inputs, that wouldn't be much more than the VGA switch would cost. Then you can simply toggle between them
