I found a giant cluster of quartz crystal and it is attached to stone. It is in the entrance of a cave and the only way it will come out is to get cut out. It probably weighs 100+ pounds. Any ideas?
yes it is. here's the Mohs scale link 1 - talc 2 - gypsum 3 - calcite 4 - fluorite 7 - Quartz.
yes!!!!! quartz is much more stronger than talc and it is actually 2.5 in hardness harder
quartz is seven to eight on the moh's scale of hardness i believe while talc is only about 1 or 2, one of the softest minerals. you can scratch it with your nail their not rocks, by the way.
