Question:

How can I get my smoke detector to stop beeping every 35 seconds?

It's every 35 seconds on the dot and it freaks my dog out so bad that he keeps barking at it. I've replaced the batteries in all 3 smoke detectors in my apartment. I've held down the reset/test button, I've switched all the knobs in the breaker panel to try to reset it that way but nothing works.I live in an apartment and I don't think this would qualify as an emergency maintenance issue but my dog can't take this beeping for the rest of the night.

Answer:

If you are by yourself and still wearing the PT jacket, it can be zipped up or half way. However you can not mix and match civies workout cloths with the PT uniform. usually you must be cleaned shaven as well while running on your own in the PT uniform. This is Army regs. mind you.
Obviously, single occupant was not around during the 50's. There was a cold war going on which brought a lot of fear because during that time both the USSR and China had obtained nuclear weapons. There was a great fear that Communism, and Communist agents infiltrating the country. The government was neither nasty or repressive, but the social norm strongly encouraged conformity to the standards that most people believed led to success and happiness. The civil rights laws had not yet come into effect, and it is true that segregation still existed expecially in the South; discrimination about everywhere. The US still led the world in production of about everything, and the country was looked up to by most of the world (except of course the USSR and China) as the ideal and leader of the free world. Work was plentiful, the vast majority of people didn't use illegal drugs, and juvenile delinquency was mostly about skipping school and small crimes. Sex was still pretty rare in high school; teen age pregnancy very much the exception. You might call all this repression but nobody felt particularly repressed. We just thought that was the best way to live because we thought it ensured hope and success for the future. The folks that got left out of this picture were African Americans and the poor, which is one of the main causes of the Civil Rights Movement of the 60's.
