Question:

How can I maintain heat and humidity in my ball python terrarium.?

Hey everyone! Okay, so I bought a ball python from petsmart last saturdayAlong with the snake, I bought a snake starter kit for semi-tropical reptilesIt has an Under the Tank heater, which I put under the snake's hide logI also have a heat lamp above that to try and keep things warm in thereThe point of this story is that it is not workingI need to keep his tank humid and warm; however, the glass tank with the metal screen top has made it very difficult for me to keep things warm and humidCan anyone give me any efficient ideas for this? The heat and humidity seem to go right out the top of the tankUghhI can't seem to fix thisAny help would be appreciated.

Answer:

Get a basking lamp and a 100 watt bulb and put it over the warm side of the tankPut aluminum foil over 2/3 of the screen top and put a towel over itThis will help keep both heatand moisture inPut the water bowl under the heat lampI use sphagnum moss with Aspen bedding because they retain moisture extremely wellMist the bedding and moss dailyGood luck.
