Question:

How can i make my car faster without putting and exhaust system in my car?

I have a 2002 cavalier LS sport, and i have a cold air intake on it. But i don‘t want to put an exhaust system on it because its like 700 bucks and i don‘t have the kinda money right now. What are some cheap things i can do to make it gain more hp and go faster?

Answer:

Not much you can do that would make the car feel any faster. exhaust will give you 10hp at a high rpm-you'd never feel it. swapping steel wheels for aluminum wheels you would feel, but you might already have aluminum wheels on that thing
The negitives out approach the advantages. Removeing might deliver you rather less backpressure and you may also no longer observe the HP broaden in any respect besides on best finish at max tourque. Less weight, approximately the identical as a bag of golfing golf equipment. It might confuse your o2 sensors, pcm might compensate however making long run electronics diagnostics complex, probably having your examine engine mild on always. I might opt for extra at the air consumption aspect for affordable perfomence until your going to place alot of cash in a tuned exhaust process and recalibrate your pcm.
octane boost and premium gas will not boost performance, nor will premium fuel. Boosting octane helps in engines that run high compression ratios. The Cav you're talking about runs around 9:1 if I've read correctly. The performance gains from plugs and wires will not be noticeable on a stock vehicle. The entry level performance upgrades are almost always intake, exhaust, some will say chip though it depends on the changes the chip makes. You can lighten the car a little, but you wouldn't want to do so to the point where you sacrifice safety or emergency considerations on a daily driven vehicle (e.g., removing spare tire, jack, etc). Your next logical step is exhaust, since any performance increase is dependant on increasing fuel/air intake and pushing it out more efficiently. I would see if you can do it in stages; cat back / cat forward maybe and then move on to more in-depth mods from there.
