The recipe says: In a double boiler, melt 4 ounces of dark chocolate.
Easy simple ....need two pots in larger pot place water about 1/2 way up place over heat get hot meanwhile break up chocolate and place in smaller pot place right in over simmering water in larger pot to melt , There is no need for glass bowl works great
The old way was to have boiling water in a cooking pot, and then put the chocolate (in bits) into a Pyrex bowl that was suspended into the water. It takes ages. I don't think using the microwave will work, it will taste burnt.
When I melt chocolate I put some sort of glass bowl over a pot that contains boiling water, that should do the trick!
A double boiler is simply 2 bowls inside one another, one with water, one slightly smaller resting on top - so the steam goes up from the boiling water melts the chocolate. Otherwise, the microwave. But it burns VERY easily, and doesn't go as silky. Check it every 5 seconds and stir in the microwave, to be sure. Or the grill oven, hold a tray with the chocolate in it and stir as it heats. It solidifies VERY quickly, a double boiler has the best results though.
