I've recently become Wiccen, I'd like to know how I can prepare myself mentality and physically to preform magick. And does anyone have any tips for a newbie. Please serious answers. Thanks for your time.
Most wiccans or pagans these days are self initiated. There is no need for a grand initiation ceremony, simply a craving for knowledge of the unknown. Edit: In correllation to LabGrrl, she is right, Wicca is approximately 65 years old. I may be a few years out, but close enough. Though that said, it does follow 2 deities which are closely linked to Ancient Greece. Edit again: @ HEY THERE XD. Firstly, who are you to say anothers religion is crap? As a Pagan follower of the Egyptian Pantheon, a heathen to you, I would differ with that comment. After all, you discredit the beliefs of cultures 'thousands' of years old... You discredit them as satanic, despite him not existing then. You claim we are evil, delusioned and otherwise attempt to humiliate us. I would like to point something out here. You are trying to discredit pagan religions by spouting heathen because a book told you to. Yet you say we're ridiculous? Last time I picked up a book I didn't start chanting verses at people.
Unbelievable anon troll above me! Ok now you..you're trolling too. If you were Wicca you would know these things u ask and have books and internet websites and messageboboards to help. I've been where you are (if you're for real) and I can tell you that you will tire of the make believe magickal fantasy of witchcraft and Wicca. It's all a lie and you're better off away from the lies and false fantasies. I've known many happy, educated, professional people who became depressed, and obessed with magic.
Magick is a hard art to learn. It takes many years of practice. Someone who practices the art may be able to help with some magickal assistance through spell work to enhance your abilities.
No such thing as magic......just tricks performed by clever people. Time to grow up.
Wow super helpful answers. First you have to realize magic and Wicca aren't the same thing. Wicca is a religion like Christianity or Hinduism, magic it not part of the religion. Sure Wicca is more accepting of the practice of magic and they can often go hand and hand but it's not required. Learn more about your religion first as you clearly need to do more studying. Now if you still want to learn magic, read. Go to your local library and find everything you can on the subject. Power of the witch by Lori Cabot is a good starter book. It's a bit heavy in her tradition but the beginner meditations you get are worth the read. After you feel you have a good base of understanding start a meditation regime.
