Question:

how did the first yarn get created?

it seems like the first makers of yarn would have to already know how to card the fibers and spin them in order to make the yarnbut this seems impossible that they would already knowhow would it work? how did the first yarns get created?

Answer:

I am guessing, but I think the first would have been made from herding animals that shed in the spring - the hunter/gatherers would find quantities of the shedding on branches where the animals rubbed for relief of itchingWith domesticated herds, they might use sticks as combsI am thinking of yaks and reindeer although there are likely goats and others that shedOnce having some of the wool at hand, its obvious strands would be straightened by puling and combingWool makes yarn by rolling it and twisting it in the hands although assistive devices are more efficient Most natives around the world have experience breaking stems to reveal plant fibers that can be made into twine and rope and keeping the tendons of slaughtered animals which make strong bindings, so any stranded material would be worked with We bred sheep, etc., to give heavy wool that needs cutting so the wool remains cleaner and collectible.
Wow! First, this sounds like Big Bang TheorySecond, I would appreciate if people would only post serious questions on hereThank you!
