BNZONA17, I have gathered and used wood pallets many times. I have best luck going to the county dump. Many companies will dispose of them instead of recycling. Also, go to any Industrial areas where you're located. Most businesses that use shipping services usually wind up with tons of crates and they're happy to unload them free. Many times grocery stores, and others stores that have deliveries of bulk items will have them laying around behind their buildings and stores. I found many that way also. Just ask the manager before you help yourself; again, they're usually happy to get rid of them. I have a local motorcycle show room and they many times have pallets or wooden crates left from receiving motorcycles. These are a great source, I've found great wood that's from Japan at this store. While many crates may be constructed from low quality lumber, many are made from exotic woods that are considered common lumber in the country of origin. I've gotten brazilian walnut, tiger wood, hard maple and of course oak. It's not until you start looking for them that you begin to notice there are very plentiful and in lots of places. good luck
