Question:

How do I check my transmission fluid?

I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier, 4 cylinder, and I need to know how to check my transmission fluid. Also, how do I add more if I need it? Thank you.

Answer:

Well, there should be a dip stick towards the back of the engine, close to the firewall call transmission that is your dip stick. I would go buy the Haynes manual for your vehicle and it would guide you through how to drain, service, and check your fluids. plus its just good to have for other things that come up.

well, assuming you have an automatic transmission, the usual procedure is to have the car running in park or neutral and pull the transmission dipstick. wipe off the dipstick and reinsert it fully then pull it back out and look to see where the fluid is on the stick. if it is low you will need to add more through the same tube the dipstick goes in. you will need a transmission fluid funnel which you can buy wherever you get your fluid.
